Free Your Artist

Quiet

My fiftieth year had come and gone.
I sat, a solitary man,
In a crowded London shop,
An open book and empty cup
On the marble table top.

While on the shop and street I gazed
My body for a moment blazed,
And twenty minutes, more or less,
It seemed, so great my happiness,
That I was blessed, and could bless.

– William Butler Yeats

Creativity Exercise - November 2006

1. Find a quiet place and sit. What do you hear? Trees? Snow? Children’s laughter? A siren? Use this as a basis for your next piece of work.

2. What images does the word quiet bring to you? Make a list of the first things that flashed in your mind and use one or more, or a combination, to include in your next creative piece.

Affirmation

When I listen to my inner self in a quiet moment, creativity always blooms.
