"The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists."

Creativity Exercise - Neighborhoods

I've been thinking about neighborhoods lately due to several things – spending time at my local coffee house drinking tea ;) and working on my laptop, new and ugly construction going up near me, writing the Lladranan stories and needing to figure out floor plans of the Castle and the City, and finally the anniversary of when two small planes crashed within a block of my home (I was walking from my pet supply store home at the time) – so I'm using this as a jumping off point for the artist exercise this month. Right now the shops of my neighborhood are decorating for Valentine's Day.

Think of one word that describes how you feel about the area surrounding your home. Use this word as the basis for a new piece of art.

OR look around your neighborhood and SEE something you hadn't noticed before and incorporate it into your next piece of work.

OR do a representation of your neighborhood in your favorite medium for your exercise.

Affirmation

I look at my surroundings with new eyes and find inspiration to use in my art.
