Free Your Artist
"Be happy now. Enjoy the creative process—the process of creating your life, yourself, and the project you're working on—today. Don't wait for those finishing
moments to take pleasure in your work and your life. Find joy all along the way.

   —Melody Beattie

Creativity Exercise - Inspiration

If you compare the three sword pics above with the cover of Heart Duel, you'll notice that the artist used them as "jumping off" points for his/her own work (which I think is fabulous).

Can you use them too? When was the last time you used a sword in your art? What does a sword symbolize to you? Joan of Arc? Romeo and Juliet? The Knight's Tale?
The Count of Monte Cristo? And what do the above mean to you? Willingness to fight for your faith? Honor? Misplaced religious belief, superstition, foolhardiness?

You might rather explore opposites. What would be the OPPOSITE of the sword
symbol to you? A heart for love? A cadusaeus for healing?

OR surf the web and find an image that speaks to you. Post it near your artistic workplace, then USE IT as a jumping-off point of your own. When your piece is finished, consider (maybe journal) how it changed and why and what your piece means to you.

Affirmation

Every day in every way I find material that inspires me and which I can build on. I
accept the spark of inspiration with child-like joy.
