Free Your Artist

"From a tiny spark may burst a mighty flame"

—Dante

Yes, at the prodding of my agent, I've started a blog, called Robin D. Owens on Writing and Publishing. http://www.robindowens.blogspot.com It may be a bit pretentious, but that's what I want to talk about. I post daily. So I thought I'd do another Freewriting exercise. Julia Cameron, in her book, The Artist's Way, advocates "morning pages" of freewriting daily for artists of ALL mediums, so I believe it must work. I want to continue these Creativity exercises for ALL artists - and that means everyone, because everyone IS creative.

Creativity Exercise - Freewriting - June 2005

Sit down for twenty minutes with notebook paper and write. Keep the pen moving across the page, without lifting it, and just let whatever is in your mind flow out. Take a look. Are there seeds of a project in there? Or could you do a project of You before the Freewriting and You afterwards - maybe you vented.

Excercise 2: It's summer again. Look at the clouds, the dancing shadows of the trees, daydream and let your mind flit to projects that make you smile - silly or fun or comforting or fulfilling.

Affirmation

I free my mind and let it soar to find inspiration in ordinary or extraordinary things.
